Between 1972 and 1995, Melanie Salkin worked in Brooklyn, New York, as the head buyer for Rose Salkin Bridals and Fashions. In this position, she managed all buying activities for the Brooklyn store as well as for a satellite store in Ohio. One of her primary roles involved attending fashion shows, including those taking place during market week, and acquiring merchandise for both the fall and spring wedding seasons. Melanie Salkin additionally played a key part in developing numerous “mother of the bride” dresses that went on to become high-volume items on the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut wedding scene.
Ms. Salkin, an elementary-education graduate of Lehman College in the Bronx, is an active volunteer and tutor with a number of local schools. When she is not providing one-on-one tutoring support to students who otherwise would not have access to these services, she enjoys attending Broadway shows and following New York basketball.
